Polyamideimide (PAI)

Polyamideimide (PAI) is a high-performance thermoplastic material characterized by its exceptional heat resistance, chemical resistance and mechanical strength. Due to its amorphous structure, PAI remains stable even at extreme temperatures and is used in demanding applications, such as in the aerospace, automotive and electronics industries.

Example

A well-known example of the use of PAI is in plain bearings and seals used in turbines or engines under extreme temperatures and mechanical stress. The excellent wear and temperature resistance ensures a long service life.

PAI combines exceptionally high mechanical strength with a heat resistance of up to 270 °C. It has low thermal expansion, high dimensional stability and excellent chemical resistance, making it ideal for applications under extreme conditions.

PAI is used in the aerospace industry for precision parts, in the automotive industry for high-temperature resistant components such as valve seats and bearings, and in electronics for insulating components. It is also used in medical technology, where resistance to sterilization is crucial.

PAI is processed by methods such as injection molding or extrusion. Due to its high melt viscosity, processing requires special machinery and precise temperature control to ensure the desired mechanical properties.
